I have been honored to serve the citizens of Buffalo as a City Council Member (currently in my third term), as chairman of the Planning Commission, as a member of the Rotary, and as an involved citizen.
I am a social and fiscal conservative and my involvement in City leadership has helped to reinforce in my mind the necessity of fiscal responsibility at all levels of government - Federal, State, and Local. Federal and State fiscal irresponsibility has had a tremendous trickle down effect on local government and we must continue to make tough spending choices at the local level. The role of City Government is to focus on maintaining service levels and infrastructure and helping to maintain and protect our quality of life. That is, of course, a balancing act between the need to invest in the growth, protection, and maintenance of our city on one hand, and the need to constantly ensure that we are being good stewards of our money, time, and people on the other.
While I have lived in Buffalo for 26 years and raised a family here, my work life takes me to the metro area and often around the country. Most of my career has been spent in the high-tech sector and I have gained a broad background in several different types of businesses. This experience gives me an intimate knowledge of the way in which successful businesses are run and I will ensure that we maintain these sound fiscal policies as the Mayor of Buffalo.
I am a member of Buffalo Covenant Church, where I have held several leadership positions. I am a graduate of Bethel University in St. Paul with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership.
I look forward to continuing to serve the Citizens of Buffalo and would appreciate being given the opportunity to do so as your Mayor.
